I'm Louise! What's your name? I figure if you've made it to a point where you're reading this post we might as well know each other's names. I love learning about people and hearing their stories. Storytelling is one of my favorite things so why don't I tell you mine?
I guess I should start with the reason why I've gotten to a place where this website can exist.
The short story is that I came home from school one day in first grade singing "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" by Taylor Swift, my mom decided Taylor Swift was a good role model and the love for music began- leading to a dream of being a successful singer/songwriter. The long story is the cycle of my music phases- from strumming random strings on the guitar while talk-singing about school and singing on a chair-stage in front of my family to writing with no instruments or knowledge of rhythm. But the one I'm gonna talk about was the one that started sometime between January 2020 and March 2020 (when quarantine started).
I remember waking up on the first day of the new decade and counting all the years ahead of me. I remember being shocked to realize exactly how many years there were in each decade and thinking "what am I gonna do with all this time?" and then "Louise, what have you wanted to do your whole life but never really gotten around to? You've wanted to get good at writing songs." My family planned a trip to Nashville over spring break, I found some minimal time to write songs (not enough) and hoped for the best. When quarantine started, I used the time to improve- which I realized I was in dire need of. With that, I dove deeper into the worlds of country, pop, rap and alternative/indie music and discovered I liked a lot more music than I thought. I experimented with writing in the country, pop and alternative genres and discovered my different strengths. Taylor Swift's releases of Folklore and Evermore were probably the most eye-opening releases for me. I almost always knew the most important things in my music were lyrics, but I hadn't realized the possible lengths of that. Since quarantine started I've been working really hard and if you're reading this you get to be the first ones to hear the first products of that!
