Open mic nights!

Hiiii!!!! I'm very happy this morning because last night I had open mic night that felt very productive.
My dad and I got dinner beforehand at this really good chicken place, but it was only take-out and then it started raining so we found some trees at a park to eat under. I personally thought it was very fun of us. It felt very musician-like. And the chicken was good, so what more could we need?
There were a bunch of awesome musicians. I was tenth, so there were a bunch of people to watch. Poets, comedians, musicians, etc. Live shows are very fun.
When it was my turn, the emcee introduced me as "one of our favorites" which I was astounded by. But then I remembered that I have in fact been doing open mics probably since around when they started at Cafe Racer. Then these girls cheered when I went on stage. It was an awesome crowd. It's kind of funny because I had so much time to get nervous, but then I got onstage and felt great. I played two original songs. One of which I wrote with Marisa McKaye (LISTEN TO HER MUSIC!!! IT'S SO GOOD!!) called "Girl On Your Shelf". I gave it a funny intro, "this song is basically about when a guy tries to play you and you're like 'dude'". So I played that, and then I followed up with "Box of Chocolates". It went well, and a woman danced.
Well, my goal this month is to play at least one open mic a week. Hopefully, by the end of the summer, people will be actively reading this, and maybe they might even have their own accounts! Oh yeah, in case you missed that part, this blog is actually kind of a social platform. People can make accounts, post, follow each other, like posts, and basically do what any social media platform lets you do.
See you soon!
