The women who ruled my Spotify Wrapped!

That time of year has finally come! On December 3, I woke up to the joyous news that Spotify Wrapped was out. I listened to 43,317 minutes of music this year, and here’s who took up the most of those minutes.

My top artists

This never comes as a shock – I have the same top artist every year: Taylor Swift. I spent 10,622 minutes – about a week, total – listening to her music. Like most years, I was in the top 0.05% of her listeners. I’m also apparently in the top 0.2% of her global fans. My top streamed song of hers this year was “Enchanted (Taylor’s Version)” (2023). Last year, it was “The Black Dog” (2024), and the year before it was “You’re on Your Own, Kid” (2022).

The rest of my top five includes Sabrina Carpenter, Big Thief, Gracie Abrams and Reneé Rapp.

Combining Carpenter’s releases of Short n’ Sweet (Deluxe) this February and her brand-new album Man’s Best Friend this August, she was inescapable. I recall saying the same thing about her last year, considering her smash hit “Espresso” followed by the Short n’ Sweet album.

Big Thief (who Adrianne Lenker is the lead singer for) got a high spot purely because I nap to their music. I especially love napping to “Lorraine” (2016) and “Black Diamonds” (2017).

Gracie Abrams has continued thriving after last year’s release of The Secret of Us. The only two things she released this year were “Call Me When You Break Up”, a collaboration with Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco and “Death Wish (Live from The O2 Arena)”. Her tour and festival appearances were her main sources of relevancy this year. She also likely benefitted from friend and co-writer Audrey Hobert’s debut album release this August.

Reneé Rapp’s Bite Me album had me in a chokehold. “Mad” was one of my favorite songs this summer.

My top songs

My top song this year was “Sally, When the Wine Runs Out” by Role Model. While my top artist was predictable, this is the first year my top song hasn’t been a Taylor Swift song. I listened to it 103 times.

The rest of my top five consists of “15 Minutes” (2025) by Sabrina Carpenter, “Go Your Own Way” (1977) by Fleetwood Mac, “Hampstead” (2025) by Ariana Grande, and “Enchanted (Taylor’s Version)” by Taylor Swift. Grande’s Eternal Sunshine Deluxe: Brighter Days Ahead ruled my spring. I was on an old-timey music kick this spring, which explains how Fleetwood Mac infiltrated my Wrapped.

My top albums

One thing I especially liked about this year’s Spotify Wrapped was the new most-listened albums section. My top album was, once again, a result of napping: Masterpiece (2016) by Big Thief, which I listened to for about 19 hours. Second up was Bite Me by Reneé Rapp, which was conveniently released while I was in the middle of a road trip with my dad. He got sick of it fast, but I was obsessed. Third is somehow Speak Now (Taylor’s Version). “Enchanted” and “Mine” were both in heavy rotation this year, but I’m shocked that that was enough to warrant such a high spot. Man’s Best Friend by Sabrina Carpenter is fourth. I adore that record, and I think I’ll always associate it with my first semester of college. Lastly, my fifth most-streamed album was The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology by Taylor Swift, released last year.

My top genres

My top genre was art pop, followed by indie folk, classic rock, country, and singer/songwriter.

What is art pop? Upon looking at my Spotify curated “Art Pop Mix”, it’s about what you’d expect it to be: pop with a little extra whimsy. The songs I think channel this the most on my full “Top Songs” playlist are “Hot Gum” (2023) by Sofia Isella (though it strays in the alternative direction), “Sue me” (2025) by Audrey Hobert, “How Bad Do U Want Me” (2025) by Lady Gaga, and “The Subway” (2025) by Chappell Roan.

My Indie Folk Mix is also somewhat self-explanatory – Lizzy McAlpine and Adrianne Lenker summarize it. Lenker (of Big Thief) was heaviest in my (non-napping) rotation with “Masterpiece”, “Real Love” and “Paul”. I also deeply cherished the deluxe tracks on McAlpine’s Older (2024). “Pushing It Down and Praying” and “Spring into Summer” made my Wrapped. I was surprised not to see “Soccer Practice” there too.

Country likely rose as a result of moving to Nashville in August. I became well-versed in the genre very quickly while taking a Women in Country Music class. While most of the songs I found through that class didn't make my Wrapped, some favorites that did make it include “Grudge” (2025) by Carter Faith, “I Can See You” (2023) by Taylor Swift, and “Go Go Juice” (2025) by Sabrina Carpenter.
